Paropakaram – Bergamot

I received this sample in August 2024 from Sascha, the owner of Indiaroma.

A pack contains 10 sticks and costs €6.89.

The citrusy, slightly tart fragrance of bergamot in these sticks is just about strong enough to detect it.
Unfortunately, this is a frequent problem with incense sticks with citrus fragrances (such as citronella and lemongrass): the fresh-smelling oils are, as headnotes, particularly volatile and quickly evaporated. It appears to be the same with these Bergamot sticks as well.

What remains is a quite mild, generic incense stick fragrance with a slightly smoky touch and an idea of tart freshness.

I generally have my difficulties with intense citrus fragrances, and so bergamot scents are quite a deterrent for me. In that respect, I’m glad that Bergamot only have a very mild fragrance. However, anyone who’s hoping for a bold bergamot fragrance is likely to be disappointed by these incense sticks.
